The deal with the Phillies ended in 1950 and in 1951 the team was named the Americus Rebels and operated as an unaffiliated team. The team moved to Thomasville, Georgia for the 1952 season and was renamed as the Thomasville Tomcats.
They became a Brooklyn Dodgers affiliate and changed the team name to the Dodgers in 1953. They continued in this manner until the league folded in 1958.
